EASA Issues Emergency AD for Airbus A320 Series

On November 28, 2025, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive (AD) for Airbus A320 family aircraft. The directive states that a software failure in the flight control system of A319, A320, and A321 models could lead to conditions that threaten flight safety.

EASA emphasized that failures occurring specifically in the Elevator Aileron Computer (ELAC) system may make it difficult for pilots to control the aircraft, requiring urgent software updates. The directive mandates immediate updates and corrections to the affected systems. Airworthiness actions will be carried out in accordance with the updates provided by Airbus.

If the required updates are not performed, the affected aircraft will not be considered airworthy and will not be allowed to continue operations. The directive applies only to the group of aircraft identified as affected, and EASA expects airlines to comply rapidly with the mandatory instructions.
